Unemployment compensation is an eligibility- based program that provides temporary financial benefits to individuals who are unemployed due to no fault of their own. There are requirements to become and remain eligible including a weekly work search, being able and available, not refusing suitable work, and reporting earnings when earned (not when paid).  Recipients must complete a report on a weekly basis to receive benefits if found eligible.

What to expect

Use the "Where to File a Claim" link for ReEmployME- the application portal for unemployment compensation.  It will take approximately two to three weeks from the date you first file a new claim to receive your first unemployment payment, assuming there are no eligibility issues to be addressed.
